Compass Prep Statement of Faith

  • We believe that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16) Our principles and policies are based on the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament.

  • We believe that sin is defined as “a lack of conformity to or transgression of the law of God” and that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, deserving condemnation from a Holy God. Sin brought death and brokenness to the world, but Jesus came to heal, restore, and save us from its curse.

  • The only way to that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone and He will receive all of those who truly seek Him in faith and repentance.

  • We believe that we can have full assurance of salvation by trusting in Jesus, the perfect Son of God, who was condemned in our place, died and rose from the dead to make a way for all sinners to be restored to perfect communion with our Creator, live abundant lives on this earth and spend an eternity in Heaven.

  • We believe that Jesus forgives sinners and calls them to a new life in Him, giving the gift of the Holy Spirit to draw us to the Father, understand the Scriptures, to be our constant guide and comforter, to love and forgive others, and enable us to obey God.

We have adopted the Apostolic Creed, the oldest statement of faith in the Christian Church, which sums up the foundation of belief for all Christians throughout the world.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only

Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under

Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose

again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father

Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy

Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The

Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting.

Amen.

Compass Prep Position on Gender Identity

Gender identity and sexual relationships have become a prevalent topic of discussion in our day. Considering the diverse views on the subject, as the Founder and Director of Compass Prep, I find it necessary to clarify the position of our community regarding these issues.  When Compass Prep began in 2004, this issue was not even on the radar, and it had never been addressed in our Parent/Student Handbook. Since the topic of gender is now front and center, we must address it from a Biblical standpoint.  The following statements define our positions on gender issues/sexual relationships and are included in the Student/Parent/Staff handbooks.

  • We believe God created all of humanity in His image, both male and female. Gender and sex are synonymous and there are only two. (Genesis 1:27)

  • We believe God made male and female to be complimentary and designed marriage to be exclusively between one man and one woman. Through that union, man and woman were uniquely designed to have children and populate the earth. (Romans 1:24-27

  • We believe that God intended for the sexual relationship between a man and a woman to be kept within the bounds of marriage to preserve and protect the holy and precious gift of family. (Genesis 3:24-25, Titus 1:6)

  • We believe every person, because they are made in the image of God, must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed towards any individual will be addressed and corrected.

Because Compass Prep has, from the beginning, held to a Biblical worldview, we are committed to upholding the historic understanding of Scripture and applying the truth to every area of life. The position we hold regarding gender confusion does not mean that we reject students who are struggling with these issues. On the contrary, we are ready to walk with them through their struggles in the context of what we know to be truthful answers to their questions regarding gender identity. We would be doing harm if we affirmed the delusion of being able to decide whether to be male or female, a determination which was made, scientifically speaking, at the point of conception. Neither do we pretend that engaging in sexual practices that are outside of God’s intended purposes will not bring harm. Instead, we aim to help every student, male and female, to unveil the valuable person God created them to be, to become the best version of themselves, to discover their unique purpose and sense of direction and then help them reach their goals efficiently and effectively.
