About Compass Prep North

Our School

Compass Prep North is a hybrid school serving K-12 students in Pickens, Gilmer, Dawson and surrounding areas starting Fall of 2024.

Whether you're just starting out on your academic journey or looking for a fresh start, Compass Prep is here to guide you every step of the way. We understand that each student is unique and that's why we offer personalized learning experiences tailored to your individual needs.

Our Founder

In 2005, Laura George founded Compass Prep with a vision to create a learning environment catering to all learning styles. Her motivation was to ensure that everyone, including her expanding family, felt embraced and included. With 11 children, Laura has wholeheartedly embraced the homeschooling community and now serves as Executive Director of the Compass Prep Board.

  • Flexible: Scheduling, individualized academics, on campus and remote learning. We also have multiple ways to work out financial arrangements; payment plans, work/study program for students and/or parents to the Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship and fundraising options.

    Focused: Help students set goals based on their interests, searching out possible careers, recognizing students' gifts and building confidence.

    Future-driven: Helping students know themselves, map out an itinerary, propel them toward their destination with experiences designed to encourage and equip

    Family-friendly: Enjoy the freedoms of independent education while benefiting from the structure and security of a supportive community; the BEST of both worlds.

    FUN!: Students aren't confined to a classroom, but through our OFFRoad Program they regularly explore the community, meet interesting people, serve others and spend time outdoors.

  • Starting on September 3, 2024, classes will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10am-3:30pm. You can choose a 1, 2, or 3 day schedule.
